A great tool for the professional carpet cleaner for quick and easy repair of small bleach spots and other color damaged spots on nylon or wool fabrics.
How to remove bleach spots from carpet:
1. Apply Bleach Neutralizer directly to spot and work down to the base with your fingers. No need to heat.
If the affected area was not caused by bleach, begin the color repair with the following steps.
2. Wet the discolored area with hot water to dampen all fibers.
3. Heat Dye Pen with CAP OFF! Dye should be at least 130 degrees.
Heating of the Spot Dye Pens can be accomplished in your microwave, in 30 second intervals, on the LOW setting OR in a shallow pot with hot water heated to at least 130 degrees.
4. Test color by lightly applying the smallest amount possible of dye to the discolored area and work dye into fibers with your fingers. Should multiple colors be present start with the lightest color first.
5. If color present is desired, apply hot dye again by small amounts and gradually working dye to the base of fibers with your fingers. Repeat as necessary, use towel if needed.
6. Once the spot is colored and matches the surrounding fibers, leave spot to dry. Spot should take no more than 12 hours to dry, depending on weather conditions. Heat and air movement reduces drying time.
7. If more than enough color was applied and the spot is darker than the desired color, a Dye Pen Remover, which comes with the Spot Dye Pen Kits, can be used to lighten and blend color.
Helpful Hint: Think of applying dye like you would a cosmetic; dab a little on and rub in until you like how it looks. Don't use too much or you'll be sorry. You might not get the spot to look perfect, but it will be better than it did before. The more practice you have with using the Spot Dye Pen Kits and the more your knowledge and experience with Spot Dye Pens grows, the easier it will be to have close to perfect results.
