Preconditioning consists of the application of a cleaning solution to carpet fibers by an injection, pump-up, or electric style chemical sprayer and then using agitation in the form of a carpet brush/rake or agitation device to evenly and thoroughly distribute the carpet prespray. Proper preconditioning will result in soil removal activities such as suspending and emulsifying various types of soils to be removed by hot water extraction.
